Primavera Software and the Project Statistics Portlet
Project Statistics Portlet in Primavera P6 R8
This Primavera software blog is going to discuss the Project Statistics Portlet in the Primavera P6 Release 8 dashboard. Analyzing a project’s statistics is one of the most important ways of determining if a project is progressing as expected. Statistics allow Primavera P6 users to gain insight into the project’s performance and helps the project managers and project controls decide what actions need to be taken to improve the project’s outcome.
The Project Statistics Portlet enables you to analyze project information in row and column format for a particular project or project group. You can customize the portlet to select the columns of information you want to appear, and specify the display format to analyze data in a way that is meaningful to you.
The Project Statistics Portlet is strategic in that it enables Program and Project Managers to select the data that they would like to monitor to improve the management of the overall portfolio as well as the individual projects within the portfolio. The example in this blog demonstrates setting up the portlet to display cost performance data by displaying the baseline costs compared to the at completion cost with a variance. The portlet displays the overall health of the portfolio as well as the projects in the portfolio. Managers can then drill down to view the WBS statistics to conduct additional research on the project.
The information displayed in the portlet depends upon where it appears:
- In a dashboard, the portlet displays the information you select down to the WBS level for all projects included in the current dashboard filter. For example, if you filter a dashboard by a portfolio, the Project Statistics portlet displays data for all projects included in that portfolio.
- In a project workspace, the portlet displays the information you select down to the WBS level for the currently open project.
